Are you ready to discover the shop with the most iconic eyewear on the Central Coast? Welcome to Specs By Kyla! For years, Specs by Kyla has been the go-to destination for anyone on the Central Coast who refuses to settle for ordinary, boring lenses. From Paso Robles to San Luis Obispo to Pismo Beach, people have made the drive to Atascadero specifically for what Kyla and her team offer. Quality, handcrafted eyewear fitted to YOU. All of the glasses and sunglasses there are independently-owned and artisan-crafted, offering styles that won't be seen in most stores.
Moving Into A Larger Space In Downtown Atascadero
Now, Specs by Kyla has moved into a much larger space in downtown Atascadero. With an entire room dedicated to lenses for kids of all ages and a large space filled with one-

of-a-kind frames for glasses and sunglasses, there's something for everyone! You'll find her store nestled on the corner of El Camino Real and Traffic Way, and by The Poisoned Apple and Hop's Bounce House. Their address is 5915 El Camino Real, Atascadero. So you can swing by and grab a cider at The Poisoned Apple before perusing some glasses, or you can bring the kids by Hop's Bounce House for a bit of fun after your glasses appointment.
Join her this Friday, May 8th, 2026, from 3 - 7 PM for her grand opening and celebration in her new place! They are hosting Theo Eyewear, and their sweet representative, Cameron, will be here displaying the entire rainbow of Theo from Antwerp, Belgium, starting at 3 PM. The Atascadero Chamber of Commerce will be here at 4:30 doing a ribbon-cutting. They'd love to have you all in the photo opp! Enjoy bites and treats from Wendy White's Bakery, a DJ, and sips poured by Marin from Marin's Vineyard.
Meet The Woman Behind The Frames
Kyla is a certified optician through the American Board of Opticians (ABOC), a credential she's held since 1999. Her love for the craft goes back to high school, when she worked in a small optometric office. Over the years, she has worked with several eye care

professionals and even helped a doctor open a new practice on the East Coast. When she opened Specs by Kyla, it wasn't just a business decision. It was a lifelong dream realized. She's been working with artisan, luxury (and fun) frames on the Central Coast for over a decade!
She didn't do it alone. Her husband, Jeff, handles the back office, accounting, lens quality inspections, and, yes, he custom-built those stunning shop shelves everyone always asks about. Mattea, their eyewear matchmaker, rounds out the team with expert fitting skills and an uncanny ability to help you find exactly the frame you didn't know you were looking for. This is a family business in the truest sense, and it shows in every interaction.
Independent Eyewear You Won't Find Anywhere Else On The Central Coast
Kyla carries exclusively independent eyewear lines, many of which are handmade in small workshops in France, Italy, Japan, Switzerland, Spain, and Germany. These are not the frames you'll find at a chain optical or a big-box retailer. For a complete list of her frames, click here.
A few standouts from the collection:
Anne et Valentin: handmade in a small French mountain factory by two opticians who believe eyewear should be art for the face.
Masunaga: handcrafted in Japan since 1905 using titanium and acetate frames that have subtle and beautiful engraving, truly making them an heirloom for your face.
Nina Mûr: sustainably made wood frames from Madrid, crafted from Finnish birch and fully customizable.
Götti: Swiss-made, ultralight, consistently minimalist designs for confident personalities.
RAEN: quintessentially Californian, with premium Zeiss lenses and a harder-to-find optical line.
Lool: manufactured from a single sheet of steel, no welding, no screws, barely there on your face
141 Eyewear: optician-owned, buy one give one, and crafted out of Ultem, which was created for aircraft originally.
